BCS Rankings Released, Texas Longhorns Atop the List with Alabama and Penn State Following
The BCS rankings were released on Sunday and in the first edition leading up the two teams who will play for the National Championship the Texas Longhorns hold the top spot with the Alabama Crimson Tide, Penn State Nittany Lions and Oklahoma Sooners following.
That order mirrors the most recent AP Top 25 rankings but unlike the AP list which placed the Florida Gators at #5 the BCS has the SEC school down at #10 due in large part to their loss to unranked Ole Miss.
The USC Trojans continue to position themselves for a shot at the National Championship as they sit in the #5 spot while Oklahoma State follows at #6. The Georgia Bulldogs are at #7 and could help their positioning over the next two weeks as they face the #13 LSU Tigers and #10 Florida Gators.
