Desperate Houswives Star Sues Show Creator

An Ex-Houswife claims she was wrongfully terminated when her character was killed off

Marc Cherry, the creator of ABC’s ever volatile (and addictive) “Desperate Housewives” franchise has been embroiled in a legal struggle with ex-housewife Nicollette Sheridan since April, but now the actress has agreed to drop the charges of emotional and physical abuse that she levelled at Cherry. The lawsuit and the latest drama are the result of an altercation on set according to Sheridan. The actress claimed that when she asked about a script during a rehearsal, Cherry hit her across the face. When she later went to the network to complain that he’d created a “hostile work environment”, her character on the show was then killed off in a car accident effectively ending her run on the series. She also claims that she’s not the only one who was on the receiving end of Cherry’s abuse- she sites other members of the cast and crew, as well as co-star Teri Hatcher as victims of Cherry’s “extremely abusive and aggressive” behaviour. Sheridan is also suing for gender and sex discrimination as well as the wrongful termination. On Friday, the actress filed documents at a Los Angeles Superior court stating that she would no longer proceed with the $20 million lawsuit that she’d filed against him, if Cherry and the network agreed that she would not have to submit to psychiatric counselling in exchange.
