Amy Winehouse has been paid £1 million for a two hour performance in Russia.
The impressive sum was paid by a mystery Russian businessman for Amy to
give her first full performance in two years at a show in Moscow on
Friday (19.12.10).
The 27-year-old singer, who has famously battled alcohol and drug
problems in the past, was flown from London to the Russian capital to
perform in front of guests including billionaire businessman Mikhail
Prohorov and Sergei Kapkovym, head of the Russian Football Association.
The 'Rehab' singer's popularity has soared in Russia after it was revealed her grandmother was an immigrant from the country.
Although she reportedly seemed uneasy as she took to the stage in a
leopard print dress and launched into opening track 'Cupid', a friend
said Amy was thrilled to be singing live again.
The source said: "It was a fantastic performance. Amy was brilliant and
went down very well with the crowd. She has a real following in Russia
and no one was disappointed judging by the reaction she got.
"She is clearly glad to be back on stage. 2011 is going to be a big year for her."
Amy flew home shortly after the private concert but her return is set
to continue with a series of six shows scheduled for next month in
Brazil.
