Sarah Palin Wardrobe Cost Republican National Committee $150K

The Republicans are under fire for reportedly spending more than $150,000 on clothing and accessories for vice president hopeful Sarah Palin. According to Politico.com, the Republican National Committee bought the clothing from high-end department stores after the Alaskan Governor was picked as the running mate of presidential candidate John McCain.

The purchases include a $75,062.63 shopping trip to a Minneapolis Neiman Marcus and shopping trips to Saks Fifth Avenue in St. Louis and New York for a combined total of $49, 425.47. Hair and makeup costs totaled $4,716.49 and another estimated $5,000 was spent on Palin’s husband Todd at upscale men’s boutique Atelier.

A spokeswoman for the McCain Palin campaign issued a statement regarding the purchases. “With all of the important issues facing the country right now, it’s remarkable that we’re spending time talking about pantsuits and blouses. It was always the intent that the clothing go to a charitable purpose after the campaign,” the statement said.
