Lyfe Jennings, Famed R&B Singer, Arrested on Gun Charge Following Car Chase

Lyfe Jennings, the popular R&B recording artist, faces felony charges after firing a gun and leading police on a car chase in Georgia over the weekend.

According to TMZ, at approximately 9:30 pm on Sunday, October 19, Smyrna Police responded to a report of gunshots.  As they approached the scene they spotted, Jennings, whose real name is Chester J. Jennings, leaving the area in his 2005 red Corvette.

Jennings, who was incarcerated from 1992-2002 on an arson charge, led the police on a chase, which ended when he crashed his car.

Jennings, 35, was arrested and charged with attempting to elude and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, both of which are felonies.  He also faces misdemeanor charges of criminal trespass, discharging a firearm near a public highway and refusal to take a sobriety test.

Lyfe was initially taken to the Smyrna City Jail and was later transferred to the Cobb County Detention Facility.
