Oil Pipeline Explodes In Mexico, 27 Dead

Mexican authorities believe illegal extraction of oil from a pipeline may have caused Sunday’s deadly explosion in San Martin Texmelucan, Puebla. Four minor blasts followed the first and oil spread of a 3 mile radius. Officials say about 5,000 people were evacuated from nearby areas. At least 27 people were killed and 32 others were injured.

Civil Protection Director Miguel Angel Martinez said damages are still being assessed. About 80 houses were partially damaged while 32 others were completely destroyed. The explosion is still under investigation. No arrests have been made.
