While winter storms have hit the country over the last week, many parents used the time indoors to plan for next summer. According to SuperCamp president Bobbi DePorter, the summer enrichment program that specializes in teen motivation and academic help received a large number of enrollments in the last few days from families all over the country.
"We always get a lot of enrollments during the holiday season," Ms. DePorter said. "It's a combination of holiday gift-giving by parents and grandparents and families using the time off to plan for next summer."
Ms. DePorter went on to say that in 2011 SuperCamp will be held at eight schools in the U.S., including Stanford, UCLA, Brown and Wake Forest. SuperCamp will also be debuting new camp locations this year at UC Berkeley, Kent State University and the University of South Florida.
SuperCamp offers summer enrichment programs for students in middle school, high school and college. All programs provide students with powerful grade-appropriate learning and life skills. This teaching of the whole person helps students improve their grades and increase their confidence, motivation, self-esteem, critical thinking, communication and teen leadership skills.
This will be the 30th year for SuperCamp, which has graduated over 56,000 students since its first summer program was held in Lake Tahoe in 1982. Most summers find students from all 50 states and several foreign countries attending. In addition, SuperCamp holds international programs throughout Asia, Latin America and Europe.
Because of the high amount of early registration activity this year, parents are urged to enroll early to ensure their first choice in dates and locations for their sons and daughters. Families can enroll online at the SuperCamp.com website and by fax, mail or phone. More information is available by calling 800-285-3276.
