A US dog has been branded smarter than a three-year-old child.
Chaser the border collie has the broadest 'vocabulary' ever seen in an animal as she has learnt the names of more than 1,000 objects, as well as being able to also categorise things by function and shape.
Over a three-year project, psychologists Alliston Reid and John Pilley taught Chaser the names of 1,022 toys by introducing them one by one.
Groups of 20 toys were picked and put in a separate room from where Chaser had to retrieve them by name.
She never scored less than 18 out of 20.
