Pro-Independence Taiwanese Protesters Rally Against China, Target Taiwan Government

A massive march of pro-independence Taiwanese protestors demanded the country’s government take a firmer stance against China following the recent scandal involving tainted dairy products.

The protestors have labeled current Taiwanese President Ma Ying-jeou and his government complicit in the recent troubles involving Chinese imports. It is Ma’s close ties with China that has angered the demonstrators who have pushed for a more independent agenda.

Saturday’s march was organized by the Democratic Progressive Party which had constantly butted heads with China during its government. The DPP was constantly pushing China with its pro-independence programs.

While Taiwan is separately governed, China still considers them part of their territory.
