AP Top 25 College Football Scores: #20 Ball State Cardinals Remain Undefeated, Drop Eastern Michigan

Nate Davis threw for 241 yards and a pair of touchdowns, Miquale Lewis rushed for 75 yards and a TD and the #20 Ball State Cardinals (8-0, 4-0) collected 408 yards of offense and rolled over the Eastern Michigan Eagles (2-7, 1-4) 38-16 in MAC action on Saturday.

Offense was hard to come by in the first half as the Cardinals settled for a 27-yard field goal from Ian McGarvey and an unconventional 4-yard touchdown reception by Davis on a 4-yard toss from Briggs Orbson for a 10-0 halftime lead.

Davis then used his arm to put the Cardinals up 24-0 in the third quarter with touchdown passes of 5-yards to Darius Hill and 6-yards to Orbson. Eastern Michigan got on the board on the last play of the third quarter as Jacory Stone hauled in a 7-yard toss from Andy Schmitt to cut Ball State’s lead to 24-7.

Ball State answered the Eastern Michigan score quickly though as Lewis busted a 52-yard touchdown run in the opening minute of the fourth quarter. The Eagles scored and had the ball trailing 31-13 but Trey Buice put the game away with an interception returned 45-yards for a touchdown.

Ball State will face Northern Illinois on Nov. 5 while Eastern Michigan takes on Western Michigan on the road.
