AP Top 25 College Football Scores: #3 Penn State Stays Perfect, Holds Off #10 Ohio State in Big Ten Showdown

Daryll Clark was 12/20 passing for 120 yards and added 40 yards rushing, Evan Royster had 97 yards of total offense and the #3 Penn State Nittany Lions (9-0, 5-0) defense forced a pair of turnovers and limited the #10 Ohio State Buckeyes (7-2, 4-1)) to just 61 yards rushing in a 13-6 win in a huge Big Ten showdown on Saturday night.

While both teams had proven themselves capable of putting points on the board, Penn State averaging 45.9 per game while Ohio State was averaging 26.9, Saturday’s showdown was all about defense as neither team could put together a deep drive.

Heading into the fourth quarter the Buckeyes were clinging to 6-3 lead but midway through the frame Pat Devlin filled in for Clark under center, took a snap and snuck in from a yard out to give Penn State a 10-6 advantage. They were able to add a 35-yard field goal from Kevin Kelly with just over a minute left to move up 13-6 but the Buckeyes had one last chance to tie the game.

Terrelle Pryor moved Ohio State down the field and was on the Penn State 43-yard-line with 30 seconds left when he tossed a ball deep and Lydell Sargeant picked it off on the goal line.

Penn State will travel to Iowa on Nov. 8 while Ohio State will travel to Northwestern on Nov.8
