A FARC hostage held captive for eight years has been freed by the Colombian army according to reports.
Oscar Tulio Lizcano, a former member of Congress in Colombia, was kidnapped in 2000 and held, along with several other hostages, by the leftist rebel group FARC.
Early Sunday morning the Colombian army was carrying out operations in the mountain region of Choco, in Tamana when they found Lizcano. According to an AFP news agency report an official with the Colombian army confirmed, “The army and the police, in a joint intelligence operation, succeeded in rescuing Doctor Lizcano at 0815 in the morning.”
