High School Cheerleaders Killed in Car Crash Following Football Game

Four high school cheerleaders were among the five dead following a car cash in which the SUV they were traveling in hit an oncoming car late Friday night in Tennessee.

 

The accident occurred just northwest of Knoxville following a high school football game at which the girls had been cheering. According to police the conditions had been wet and foggy and it is believed the girls had not been wearing their seatbelts.

 

Preliminary reports have indicated that the SUV hydroplaned on a curve and flipped, sending it into the oncoming traffic and slamming into a car. The SUV burst into flames.

 

The driver of the car and a 10-month-old child was taken to a hospital and a passenger inside the car lost her unborn baby in the accident.
