NFL Scores Week 8: Brett Favre Tosses Late TD to Lift NY Jets Past Kansas City Chiefs

Brett Favre threw for 290 yards and two touchdowns, Leon Washington rushed for 67 yards and a touchdown on three carries and another 34 yards receiving and a score, Jerricho Cotchery had 102 yards receiving and Laveranues Coles hauled in a 15-yard touchdown reception in the final minute of the game to lift the New York Jets (4-3) past the Kansas City Chiefs (1-6) 28-24 on Sunday.

The teams went into halftime tied at 14-14 as Washington scored on an 18-yard toss from Favre in the first quarter and then a 60-yard sprint in the second to account for the Jest points while the Chiefs scored on a Tony Gonzalez 19-yard TD reception from Tyler Thigpen and a Mark Bradley 11-yard reception with 4 seconds remaining in the second.

Kansas City grabbed the lead 17-14 when Connor Barth booted a 30-yard field goal in the third quarter but Thomas Jones put the Jets in front on a one-yard run as the third frame was coming to an end.

While Favre tossed the winning touchdown late in the game he nearly tossed the winning touchdown for the Chiefs as he was picked off by Brandon Flowers who returned it 91-yards for a touchdown to give K.C. a 24-21 lead midway through the fourth.

Fortunately for Favre he was able to overcome his three interceptions when he found Coles on a 15-yard toss with one minute left in the game.
