Anne Pressly, Arkansas Anchorwoman, Dies of Injuries Sustained in Beating

Little Rock, Arkansas anchorwoman Anne Pressly died Saturday from injuries she sustained in an attack at her home last Monday. Pressly was found severely beaten in her home by her mother, who went to check on the 26-year-old after she didn’t answer her phone.

Pressly was listed in critical condition after the attack. She sustained several stab wounds around her chest area and her left hand was broken. She had massive brain swelling and remained sedated.

The KATV news anchor died Saturday, only a day after doctors said her vital signs were stable and swelling in her brain had gone down. Pressly’s parents released a statement saying they were “with her in her last moments.”

Authorities believe that Pressly may have been the victim of a random burglary. Her purse and several items from her home were missing and her credit card was used at a nearby gas station late last week. No suspects have been identified.

Pressly’s father, Guy Cannady, appeared on ‘Good Morning America’ earlier in the week and said he doesn’t believe his daughter’s attack was random. “It’s so hard to understand, first of all, why would anybody vandalize and brutalize somebody to this extent. There are items missing from the home. The severity of the injuries and brutality of the attack in my own mind calls into question the motive,” Cannady said.

KATV is offering a $30,000 reward for any information that leads to the arrest of Pressly’s attacker.

Pressly had a small role in the new Oliver Stone film ‘W.’
