Simon Cowell celebrated Christmas Day (25.12.10) by judging a karaoke contest.

The music mogul spent the holiday at the Sandy Lane resort in Barbados with his fiancee Mezhgan Hussainy, ex-girlfriends Sinitta and Jackie St Claire and several other guests and after enjoying a five-course meal they decided to hold their own version of his pop star search show ‘The X Factor’.

As each of the ladies took to the microphone at Cove Spring House, Simon proceeded to jokingly criticise their efforts just like he does to hopefuls on the UK TV talent show.

A source told the Daily Mirror newspaper: “Simon really got into character and came out with some brilliant, crushing comments – but everybody was impersonating him and making their best catty comments about each other too.

“When Sinitta sang, he told her she sounded like a ‘fire going off in a pet shop’ because she was so squawky.”

However, the 51-year-old star wasn’t so critical when Mezhgan, 37, treated everyone to a rendition of Whitney Houston’s ‘I Will Always Love You’, and lavished his beloved with praise.

The source added: “He had a wry smile throughout her performance and when she finished, he said, ‘I didn’t like that – I loved it!’

“Mezhgan went bright pink as everyone wolf-whistled!”

Earlier in the day, Simon and his guests enjoyed a feast of pumpkin soup, cheese souffle, shellfish risotto, turkey and rack of lamb and a mixed berry Yule log.

They also quenched their thirst with bottles of £1,000-a-bottle Chateau d'Yquem wine.
