USA Today Coaches Poll Top 25 College Football Rankings: Texas Longhorns Remain #1

 The Texas Longhorns remain undefeated and sit atop the USA Today Coaches Poll Top 25 college football rankings.

Texas defeated #6 Oklahoma State Cowboys, 28-24, at home during the second game of their torrid four-game schedule against ranked teams. Colt McCoy threw for 38-of-45 for a career-high 391 yards and two touchdowns for UT.

Texas now takes on #5 Texas Tech Red Raiders, who defeated then-#23 Kansas Jayhawks, 63-21, who dropped out of the top 25.

The top three remains the same. #2 Alabama Crimson Tide beat the Tennessee Volunteers, 29-9, while #3 Penn State Nittany Lions defeated archrival #9 Ohio State Buckeyes, 14-9.

Oklahoma Sooners move up to #4 and Texas Tech moves up one as well to round out the top five. USC Trojans dropped two spots after a close win against Arizona, 17-10.

Kansas is joined by Pittsburgh Panthers, Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets and Northwestern Wildcats as teams that dropped out of the USA Today Coaches Poll top 25. Pitt was blown out, 54-34, by Rutgers; Georgia Tech lost 24-17 to Virginia; and Northwestern barely lost to Indiana, 21-19.

They were replaced by Michigan State Spartans, North Carolina Tar Heels, Oregon Ducks and Maryland Terrapins, who were all previously ranked in the USA Today top 25.
