Blizzard Conditions Force NFL to Postpone Game
Eagles and Vikings game moved to Tuesday night
The National Football League announced that the Sunday Night game between the Philadelphia Eagles and Minnesota Vikings would be moved to Tuesday night due to hazardous weather conditions on Sunday.
The decision has divided fans, with many unable to get time off work on Tuesday night after the holiday weekend. However the NFL has defended its decision based on fan safety traveling to and from the game.
Pennsylvania's Governor Ed Rendell did not agree with the decision, saying that football is an outdoor game and is meant to be played in cold weather. He pointed out that the subways and many of the cities main arteries were still open and could handle the traffic.
Fans were most disappointed because of the extra factor that snow brings to games. Throughout the NFL's history, many games played in snowy conditions have become classics. The original Ice Bowl and the infamous New England Patriots - Oakland Raiders games spring to mind.
The game will be the first game played on a Tuesday night since 1946.
