Human Rights First wishes to express its sympathy and condolences to all of those affected by the earthquake and tsunami in Asia. Two of the hardest hit areas, Sri Lanka and the Indonesian province of Aceh, have already endured many years of conflict. We urge all parties to fully suspend military operations in order to facilitate access to supplies and medical care.
We are encouraged by the outpouring of concern and donations worldwide, and hope that world attention will remain focused on the health and welfare of affected populations well after the current emergency phase.
