Tyrone Willingham will step down as the head football coach for the University of Washington at the end of the 2008 season, according to reports Monday.
Willingham and athletic director Scott Woodward made the announcement on Monday after Saturday's 33-7 loss to Notre Dame gave the Huskies an 0-7 record this season.
Willingham has been on the hot seat for being unable to turn around the Washington program. He is 11-32 overall in his four seasons. Washington currently has a nine-game losing streak dating back to last season, tied with North Texas for the longest in the country among major schools.
Willingham has a 76-84-1 record in his 14-year head coaching career with Stanford, Notre Dame and Washington. He has a 1-5 bowl record as a head coach with his only win coming in the Sun Bowl during the 1996 season.
