The Prodigy like the way dance music has become “self sufficient”.

The electronic group have noticed a resurgence in dance tracks – including the success of their 2009 comeback album ‘Invaders Must Die’ - and say the reason it has become exciting again is because it is being made my ordinary people.

Singer and dancer Maxim Reality said: “I’m always positive about dance music. Dance music is people’s music. It’s something the people have taken back. Years ago, record labels had taken it off the people, but now, people have taken it back.

“They’re making music in their bedrooms, putting it on the Internet, on YouTube, so it’s self sufficient in some respect.”

Maxim added that his band’s aim has always been to make songs which people can’t ignore and makes them sit up and pay attention to what they’re saying.

Her added to website dnaindia.com: “We’re here to make noise, to wake people up, to get people to pay attention.

“It’s not something where there’s music going on over there and people can ignore it and read a book. You have to pay attention to what’s going on.

“It’s a lot like, look, we’re over here, this is what people are listening to and that’s what the music does.”

The Prodigy are playing live in India and America in January and February 2011.
