Eye on Entertainment Covers the December 2010 BleedFest Film Festival Founded by Elisabeth and Brenda Fies

Actress/Scream Queen Legend Tara Cardinal Is Honored as a Guest VIP at the 2010 December BleedFest Film Festival at the CAP Theatre

Eye on Entertainment covered the December 2010 BleedFest Film Festival at the CAP Theatre in Sherman Oaks, California on December 5, 2010. The BleedFest Film Festival was founded by Elisabeth and Brenda Fies in 2009 and features monthly screenings of genre films by female filmmakers. The BleedFest Film Festival is passionate about raising the visibility of indie genre movies by female filmmakers. BleedFest fetes the women who love writing, producing, directing, and watching badass genre movies: horror, thriller, action, sci-fi, western, war, exploitation, B-movie, and erotica.  BleedFest also screens a few chosen male filmmakers who have empowering, badass and edgy female protagonists; their work screens out of competition and receives the BleedFest “Partnership Award”.

Tara Cardinal was honored as a guest VIP at the December 2010 BleedFest Film Festival.  Cardinal is a world famous scream queen, pro wrestler and sword fighter.  She’s also one of the youngest scream queens in the genre, as well as an established actress in Indy films. She has been voted one of the Top 100 Sexiest Women in TV and Movies (2010) and received a nomination for 2010’s best supporting actress for her role as the mentally retarded ward in Song of the Shattered. She is a 5’ 3” dynamo with red hair and blue eyes. She is an established film producer and has starred in numerous feature films and plays.  She has studied acting with some of the top names in Hollywood.  Her films include the Legend of the Red Reaper, Divas of Novella, Ghost Flight, Delivery, Genius, Song of the Shattered , Spreading Darkness (opposite Eric Roberts) and more.  As well as being a film producer and actress, Tara is also a pro wrestler and sword fighter, who also does her own stunts. Premiering at the December BleedFest was the short film “Faux”, which starred Cardinal and was written and directed by Brenda Fies and produced and shot by Elisabeth Fies.  To see the EOE interview with Tara Cardinal at BleedFest, please go to: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EyhtwRVeWsQ

The BleedFest Film Festival

The BleedFest festival occurs the first Sunday afternoon each month. It features shorts and features in and out of competition, works in progress, and student films.  BleedFest also programs Q & As, networking opportunities, brainstorming sessions for career advancement, special events like Women in Horror Recognition Month, and forums with noted Hollywood luminaries to explore issues facing women auteurs in the industry. BleedFest has a red carpet, an event photographer, a VIP Guest section, and even an open bar.  All day tickets are ten dollars cash at the door.  Each month a local artist or cause will also be highlighted at BleedFest.  Festival founders and directors Elisabeth Fies and Brenda Fies are a filmmaking duo whose critically acclaimed feature thriller THE COMMUNE was embraced by the genre community in 2009 and 2010. They are thrilled to be filling a hole in the community by providing access to fantastic genre content by indie female filmmakers, and to disprove the widely spread myth that there are no female filmmakers making indie genre.   For more information, please visit:  http://www.indiegogo.com/BleedFest-Film-Festival
