Egyptian Teacher Held in Student Beating Death

An Egyptian school teacher is being held in custody after allegedly beating an elementary student to death for not completing a homework assignment at his Alexandria school.

 

The teacher, Haitham Nabeel Abdelhamid, is said to have become enraged when the 11-year-old student did not have his assignment completed and struck him with a ruler after which he took him outside the classroom and then hit the boy in the stomach.

 

According to reports the boy lost consciousness and was taken to an area hospital where he died of heart failure.

 

Police are holding Abdelhamid on charges of manslaughter.
