Jay-Z's New "The Blueprint 3" Album Rumored to Be Pushed Back Until 2009

Jay-Z's new album The Blueprint 3 will likely not be released this year, according to reports on Monday.

The Blueprint 3, Jay-Z's third studio album since ending his retirement in 2004, was scheduled for a December 2 release date. However, the album's only single "Jockin' Jay-Z (Dope Boy Fresh)," which was released two months ago, has yet to have a video and there has been little news about the album since.

The only confirmed information about the album is that Kanye West will be heavily involved with the project's production. There were many rumors that West would be the album's sole producer. However, there have been subsequent reports that Pharrell and possibly Timbaland will also be featured on the album's production.

In an interview with BBC Radio host Tim Westwood, Jay-Z spoke about his upcoming Blueprint 3 album. "I'm taking my time with it...It's going to be fantastic," said Jay-Z. "It's going to be something the world can be proud of, something I can be proud of it."

In regards to the album sharing the same name as his 2001 classic, Jay-Z responded, "I like to set the bar high, to keep me inspired."

The album will also feature the hit single "Swagga Like Us", which features T.I., West and Lil' Wayne. The song is also featured on T.I.'s album Paper Trail.

In addition to the original "Swagga Like Us," it has been reported that there will be a remix for the hit song, which will feature Jay-Z, Nas, Andre 3000 and Young Jeezy. The remix will also be included on the The Blueprint 3 album.

The fourth-quarter, the last three months of the year, will be a huge period for the hip-hop industry, especially with rumors of Eminem's new album Relapse set to be released on December 23.

West's 808s and Heartbreak has been moved up from December 16 to November 25, the same release date as Ludacris' new album Theater of the Mind, while 50 Cent's ...Before I Self Destruct will be released on December 9.

The Blueprint 3, Jay-Z's 10th studio album, will be his final album under his Def Jam contract before he begins recording under his label Roc Nation, his new record label under Live Nation.
