2008-09 NBA Season Opens Tuesday Night with Key Stars, Matchups

The 2008-09 NBA season begins on Tuesday night with three games, including several of the NBA's top stars.

In the first game on the schedule, the Cleveland Cavaliers will travel to battle the Boston Celtics, the reigning NBA champions, at 8 p.m. ET on TNT.

The game will rekindle the memories of the 2008 Eastern Conference championship in which James led the Cavs to Game 7 against the Celtics' "Big 3" of Kevin Garnett, Ray Allen and Paul Pierce.

In the second game, the Chicago Bulls will host the Milwaukee Bucks at 8:30 pm ET. The game will be the debut of rookie Derrick Rose, the No. 1 pick in the 2008 NBA Draft, and the first game by new Bulls coach Vinny Del Negro.

It will be the first time former Bulls head coach Scott Skiles takes on his former team as he takes the helm for the Bucks for the first time.

In the last game, the Portland Trail Blazers will travel to L.A. to face the Los Angeles Lakers, the reigning Western Conference champions, at 10:30pm ET on TNT.

This game will be the much-anticipated debut of Greg Oden, the No. 1 pick of the 2007 Draft. Oden missed all of last season in recovery from microfracture knee surgery, but will now don the Blazers jersey for the first time.

Kobe Bryant will also begin the season in attempt to end the questions of his health and his ability to win an NBA championship with former teammate Shaquille O'Neal.
