2008-09 NBA Schedule: Celtics' "Big 3" Battle LeBron James, Cavs in Season Opener

LeBron James and the Cleveland Cavaliers will battle "The Big 3" of the Boston Celtics in the opener for the 2008-09 NBA season on Tuesday night.

In the first game on the 2008-09 NBA schedule, the Cavs will travel to battle the Celtics, the reigning NBA champions, at 8 p.m. ET on TNT.

The game will rekindle the memories of the 2008 Eastern Conference championship in which James led the Cavs to Game 7 against the Celtics' "Big 3" of Kevin Garnett, Ray Allen and Paul Pierce.

The Celtics defeated the Cavs in seven games to advance to the 2008 NBA Finals, in which they defeated the L.A. Lakers in six games to win the NBA championship.

The title was the first (and final piece) in the illustrious careers of Garnett, Allen and Pierce, and became the 17th in franchise history, leading all NBA teams.

The Celtics return fellow starters Rajon Rondo and Kendrick Perkins, but lost key veteran reserve James Posey, who signed with New Orleans in the offseason.

The Cavs acquired Mo Williams from Milwaukee in a three-team trade, giving James a viable secondary scoring threat. Williams averaged 17.2 points and 6.3 assists for the Bucks last season.

James was the league's leading scorer with 30 points per game last season. The 23-year-old superstar also averaged 7.9 rebounds and 7.2 assists, setting career highs with 31 double-doubles and seven triple-doubles.
