Rula Lenska is set to return to ‘Coronation Street’.
The 63-year-old actress has been asked by show chiefs to reprise her
role as hairdresser Claudia Colby – with hopes she can be the new
landlady of the Rovers Return when Liz McDonald (Beverley Callard)
departs next year.
A source said: “Running the pub would be a massive step but it’s one that has definitely been talked about.
“Claudia ticks all the boxes for a feisty, no-nonsense landlady of a
certain age. She could certainly make a great Rovers boss to follow in
Liz’s footsteps.”
Claudia is set to return to Weatherfield on New Year’s Eve (31.12.10)
and Rula’s agent, Paul Pearson, confirmed she is in talks to sign up
for a longer stint on the show.
He told the Daily Mirror newspaper: “They’re talking to us about extending her contract.
“They really like the character of Claudia. And Rula loves the show and cast. There are some very nice storylines ahead.”
Rula first appeared in the show earlier this year when Claudia battled
pal Audrey Roberts (Sue Nicholls) for the affections of Nigel Havers’
character, male escort Lewis Archer.
