A pissed off Idaho man, Russell Miller, 68, has been charged with criminal misdemeanor battery after a Southwest Airlines flight crew and fellow plane passengers say he punched a teen who failed to turn off his iPhone as the Las Vegas to Boise flight began its descent.
Miller defended his actions and told police he "felt he was protecting the entire plane and its occupants." But the plane's crew and Boise Police felt otherwise, and Miller was arrested with the plane landed.
Apparently, a 15-year-old passenger was listening to music on his iPhone when flight attendants announced that all electronic devices should be turned off for the plane's approach to land,
Miller decided to take matters into his own hands, when the teenager sitting in front of him ignored the flight crews to switch off his Phone and punched him in the arm.
According to Boise Police Lt. Kent Lipple, Miller punched the teen so hard it left a mark on the teen's arm. Several law enforcement officials responded to await the plane's arrival. Miller the "mile high assailant" was taken into custody, and booked into a Boise jail.
The teen, who was not identified, is not a Boise resident and was flying alone.
