A 6.4 magnitude earthquake struck southwest Pakistan early Wednesday morning and left at least 150 people dead. The death toll is expected to rise as rescue workers dig through rubble of homes in the Baluchistan province. The quake struck about 35 miles northeast of the province’s capital, Quetta.
A second earthquake, measuring 6.2, struck hours after the first.
An unknown number of people were left wounded and thousands of people are now homeless.
“They are still searching. There are some villages completely destroyed. There is a lot of destruction,” said the province’s Deputy Director of Public Safety, Mohammad Ali.
