Cher Lloyd has reportedly been signed by Jay-Z.
The US rap mogul is said to have snatched the 17-year-old 'X Factor'
finalist from fellow star will.i.am - who expressed his desire to sign
the teen rapper to his own record label after performing alongside her
in the ITV1 show's final - and has vowed to make Cher a star on his Roc
Nation label.
An insider explained: "Even though Cher didn't do terrifically well in
'The X Factor' finals, there's been a hell of a lot of interest in her.
will.i.am's backing only intensified the battle to get her signature.
"After weighing up the pros and cons, it was thought that the team at
Roc Nation would be best placed to turn her dreams of stardom into a
reality."
Despite being one of the competition's more controversial contestants,
Jay-Z is said to have been keen to sign Cher due to the emerging
popularity of young female MCs.
The source added to The Sun newspaper: "All the labels are on the
lookout for sassy, young female artists with bags of attitude, and Cher
fits that bill perfectly."
