Nicole Richie’s probation for a 2006 offence has been terminated.
The 29-year-old socialite – who was charged with driving under the
influence (DUI) in 2006 after travelling the wrong way down a Los
Angeles freeway – had her probation cut short by more than a month
after her lawyer Shawn Chapman Holley proved she had fulfilled all of
its conditions by attending court-ordered alcohol education classes.
After taking parting the education programme for the past 18 months, a
Los Angles judge agreed to terminate the stint yesterday (29.12.10)
prior to its original end date in February 2011 after hearing the
reality TV star had received a positive evaluation from class leaders.
However, Nicole – who has two children, Harlow, two, and 15-month-old
Sparrow with rocker husband Joel Madden – hasn’t always adhered to the
programme so well.
In June, the star had her probation extended after failing to attend
the court-ordered classes, saying at the time she was finding it
difficult to balance attending with raising her kids.
Nicole has previously admitted she will never forgive herself for her
actions and can't escape the thought she could have killed someone.
She said: “There's absolutely no way I will do anything like that
again. I never took life seriously before. I'm in a completely
different place now. I have a responsibility now. I have to really be
someone I want my child to look up to.”
