Death Toll from Pakistan Earthquake Continues to Rise, at least 160 Dead

A series of earthquakes that struck the south-western province of Balochistan in Pakistan has left at least 160 dead and officials are predicting that death toll to rise dramatically.

The most serious tremor, a 6.4 magnitude, collapsed homes and led to landslides burying people under rubble. Aftershocks have followed the early morning quake causing fear among residents in the area as rescue workers continue to search for survivors.

Ziarat appears to be the hardest hit with the majority of deaths coming from villages in the area.

The mountainous region has made it difficult for officials to send adequate rescue teams into the area and that has left many residents conducting the searches on their own.
