David Oku, Nation's Top HS All-Purpose Back, Commits to Tennessee Volunteers

David Oku, the nation’s top-rated high school football all-purpose running back, committed to Tennessee over the weekend.

Oku, the star running back from Carl Albert H.S. (Midwest City, OK), was long considered to be leaning towards the Volunteers, but still decided to take official visits to Louisville, Michigan and Nebraska.

Oku, who stands 5-foot-10 and 186 pounds, committed to Tennessee while watching them defeat Mississippi State on Saturday at Neyland Stadium.

"It's where I feel comfortable," Oku told Rivals.com. "It wasn't one specific thing. It wasn't that I was looking for this or that in a school. It just felt right. I also have a great relationship with (Tennessee wide receiver) Gerald Jones since he's from Oklahoma, too. He's my boy. He didn't pressure me at all."

Oku is ranked No. 94 overall in Rivals.com's high school football rankings. He joins the nation’s No. 2 all-purpose back Jarvis Giles in the Tennessee 2009 recruiting class as well. Tennessee’s recruiting class is currently ranked No. 7 according to Rivals.com.
