Body Found Near Site Where Long Island Schoolteacher Disappeared

The body of a white female has been found by police who were searching for a Long Island schoolteacher who disappeared early Monday morning.

Police have not released any other details about the body discovered near the Long Island Expressway but the location was about ten miles from where Leah Walsh is believed to have disappeared. Walsh, 29, was on her way to work early Monday morning when she had to stop along the side of the road due to a flat tire.

Walsh’s abandoned car was found later that morning and her purse was found in a ditch nearby.

Leah Walsh’s husband told police he received a text message around 6:25 a.m. telling him to “have a great day” and that was the last he heard from her. Detectives have questioned William Walsh about his wife’s disappearance but those questions are considered part of a normal investigation.
