Sylvie Cachay was Strangled and Drowned

According to reports from the New York City medical examiner's office, Sylvie Cachay, a swimsuit designer, was killed through strangulation and drowning.  The case has been ruled a homicide.

Her body was discovered in an upscale Manhattan hotel, the Soho House club and hotel, on December 9, 2010.  Her body was found fully clothed in the bathtub of the room that she was staying in.

Cachay's boyfriend, Nicholas Brooks has been arrested and charged with attempted murder and strangulation, according to police.  The full details of the case are sealed and will not be made public until Brooks's court appearance on January 4, 2011.

Brooks has plead not guilty to the crime and his lawyer believes that there was at least one other person in the room on the night that Cachay was murdered.  However court documents show that police believe the only other person in the room was a hotel employee delivering ice.

Cachay had been popular in the fashion world, starting with an internship at Marc Jacobs, she quickly became the Head Designer for Women's Sportswear at Tommy Hilfiger.  In 2002 she was the head of swimwear at Victoria's Secret.  She created her own line, Syla, in 2007
