William Walsh, the husband of missing Long Island special education teacher Leah Walsh, has been arrested on suspicion of murder following the discovery of the 29-year-old’s body about 13 miles from where her abandoned car was found.
Leah Walsh was reported missing on Monday after she failed to show up for work and her car was found later that day, abandoned with a flat tire. William Walsh told investigators that he had received a text message from his wife early that morning telling him to have a “great day” and that was the last he heard from her.
The 29-year-old husband made several emotional pleas for the return of his wife but on Wednesday the body of a white female was found and by the evening that body was confirmed to be that of Leah Walsh.
By Wednesday night William Walsh was in police custody.
The couple had been married for three years and had no children.
