ESPN/USA Today Coaches' Poll Top 25 College Basketball Rankings: UNC Tar Heels Ranked Preseason #1
The North Carolina Tar Heels are the No. 1 college basketball team in the nation, according to the ESPN/USA Today Coaches Poll preseason Top 25 rankings.
The Tar Heels return Tyler Hansbrough, the unanimous National Player of the Year, after he decided to return to UNC for his senior year. UNC also returns Ty Lawson and Wayne Ellington.
UNC reached the Final Four last season, but was knocked off by the Kansas Jayhawks, the eventual NCAA champions.
The other Final Four teams, UCLA Bruins and Memphis Tigers, are No. 4 and No. 12, respectively.
Connecticut Huskies and Louisville Cardinals are ranked No. 2 and No. 3, respectively, as Duke Blue Devils rounds out the top 5.
UConn and Louisville's high rankings continue the success of the Big East conference. Pittsburgh Panthers and Notre Dame Fighting Irish, two fellow Big East teams, are also ranked in the top 10.
