The Prince of Wales – who is second in line to the throne – took part in a total of 499 official engagements throughout the year, including opening the 2010 Commonwealth Games in India in September.
Charles’ mother Queen Elizabeth also had a heavy schedule last year.
The 84-year-old monarch carried out 444 public engagements including 57 overseas trips and with the upcoming wedding of her grandson Prince William to Kate Middleton this year, has no plans to cut back.
A spokesman said: “She won’t be slowing down.”
Despite notching up her highest ever figure of 243, Prince Charles’ wife Camilla, Duchess of Cornwall was still some way behind her husband and his mother although fans have defended her, saying ill health – including a broken leg last April – had prevented her from attending more events on behalf of the royal family.
One told the Daily Star: “She was in a lot of pain but she did what she could and tried not to let it cramp her style.”
Prince William and his brother Prince Harry both took part in a number of royal events despite William working full-time as an RAF rescue pilot and Harry training with the Army Air Corps.
