A company offering couples the chance to join the Mile High Club has had its license refused on grounds that people’s lovemaking could be too distracting for pilots.
The company, Mile High Flights, offers couples the chance to fly on board its private plane equipped with a bed for the very purpose of letting them get amorous in the air.
Couples – and in one case three people – were charged £640 a flight, and even awarded a 'Certificate Of Initiation' into the Mile High Club – a slang term for people who have had sex on a flight - afterward.
However, the Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) withdrew the company’s license on safety grounds, as it fears the noise made in the curtained off bedroom could be too distracting for the pilot.
Mike Crisp, the company's founder, said: “I am getting emails every week from couples who want to go up in the plane. It's a shame we've had to stop because of some prudish snobbery on the part of the CAA.”
The CAA insisted it had “cast no moral judgments” and cited their safety fears for refusing the license.
