Publishers and industry leaders will tap on new media promotional expert Sheila English, who coined the phrase "book trailers," at two upcoming conferences. Considered an outstanding contributor in digital marketing for book publishers, the CEO of Circle of Seven (COS) Productions will speak on Viral Marketing at Book Publishers Northwest Conference in Seattle November 11th. English is also slated to cover Online Marketing Opportunities in Portland November 14th at the Pub West's National Publishing Conference and Book Industry Trade Show.
English explains that while she's been the focus of technology shows including award winning online show "Ask the Experts" and Fast Company's tech geek blogger Robert Scoble, "My roots are in the publishing industry. We're ending the year on a high note with greater book distribution outlets signing on with COS such as Transit TV which puts our videos in front of 10 million people." English reports more companies now onboard with COS include Jivox, a new video ad syndication company, along with companies that deal with online video distribution such as DailyMotion, Blinkx, and TubeMogul.
Said English, "When we started in 2002 there was no YouTube. We had to create relationships right away that would allow for greater distribution. So when MySpace and YouTube became popular in 2006 we were ready to utilize those venues."
"I learned a lot from my experiences with tech companies, traditional media, and leading publishing groups." English continues "There was really no one to guide me in the beginning. It was trial and error when it came to online book marketing back then. My greatest influence would have to be best-selling author Christine Feehan who is also passionate about online marketing. Later on I was impacted by Douglas Clegg's book on marketing and his expert advice."
Enlgish said she'll be rolling out 2009 engaged in more promotions, ongoing R&D marketing efforts, and new campaigns such as working with the University of Central Florida to promote children's literacy using new media technology.
