NFL Week 9 Schedule and Odds: Giants and Cowboys Marquee Match-Up as NFL Season Hits Midway Point

The NFL Week 9 schedule is packed with key match-ups that could determine a playoff spot or a long post season for several teams. Among the key games on Saturday the Dallas Cowboys will travel to face the NY Giants, the New England Patriots are on the road against the Indianapolis Colts and the NY Jets head upstate to face the Buffalo Bills.

That’s just on Sunday as the Monday Night Football match-up pits two of the NFL’s best with the Pittsburgh Steelers traveling to Washington to take on the Redskins.

Coming off their third win in a row the Houston Texans (3-4) will be on the road to face the Minnesota Vikings (3-4) who are back on the field after a bye-week. The Vikings are currently 4.5-point favorites and need the win to stay close in the NFC North while the Texans are just fighting for a wild card berth at this point as they’re four games behind the undefeated Titans in the AFC South.

The Jacksonville Jaguars (3-4) are in the same boat as the Texans after a disappointing loss to the Cleveland Browns last week. Stuck in the AFC South the Jaguars can’t afford another loss but they have the good fortune of facing the winless Cincinnati Bengals (0-8). Jacksonville is currently a 7.5-point road favorite.

Larry Johnson will be on the sideline once again placing the Kansas City Chiefs (1-6) in a difficult situation once again as they host the Tampa Bay Buccaneers (5-3) on Sunday. The Bucs dropped a close game against the Cowboys last week and remain winless on the road but are still favored by 9-points on Sunday.

The Baltimore Ravens (4-3) are coming off a convincing win against the Raiders in which their offense actually put up points. With two wins in a row and sitting a game back of the Steelers in the AFC North the Ravens have a solid shot at a share of the lead but they’ll have to knock off the Cleveland Browns (3-4) on the road to do it. The Browns got a big road win over the Jaguars last week and are now a 1.5-point favorite on Sunday.

In a key AFC East showdown the Buffalo Bills (5-2) will be hosting the NY Jets (4-3) in one of the featured games of the week. The Bills are tied with the Patriots atop the AFC East while the Jets sit a game back. This game is the reason the Jets brought in Brett Favre and he’ll be looked upon to score the upset. Buffalo is currently a 5.5-point favorite.

The Arizona Cardinals (4-3) have a two-game lead in the NFC West and will have a chance to build on that lead on Sunday when they travel to face the new-look St. Louis Rams (2-5). The Cardinals dropped a close road game last week to the Panthers while the Rams are coming off a narrow loss to the Patriots. Arizona is currently a 3.5-point favorite on the road where all their losses have come.

The Chicago Bears are in a tough battle in the NFC North (4-3), tied atop the division with the Packers but they have the winless Detroit Lions (0-7) at home on Sunday and are 12.5-point favorites. Chicago is coming off a bye-week while the Lions are coming off a loss to the Redskins.

Aaron Rodgers will certainly be tested on Sunday as he takes his Green Bay Packers (4-3) on the road to face the Tennessee Titans (7-0) in a huge match-up. The Packers are fighting for the NFC North title while the Titans have all but wrapped up the AFC South, already holding a four-game lead. Tennessee has been listed as a 4.5-point favorite.

The Denver Broncos (4-3) have dropped their last two games yet still hold a 1 ½-game lead in the dismal AFC West. They’ll have to figure out a way to get back on track on Sunday but it won’t be easy as they host a surprising Miami Dolphins (3-4) club that is coming off a win over the Bills. Denver is 3-1 at home and they’re coming off a bye week and have been listed as a 3-point favorite.

After a disappointing road loss last week the Atlanta Falcons (4-3) are back on the road this week as they travel to face the Oakland Raiders (2-5). The Raiders still have a shot in the AFC West with every team in the division struggling while the Falcons will need to win to keep pace in the NFC South. Atlanta is a 3-point favorite on the road.

In the most talked about match-up of the week the Dallas Cowboys (5-3) will be heading on the road to face the NY Giants (6-1) in what could determine each team’s season. The Giants are coming off an impressive road win over the Steelers while the Cowboys edged the Buccaneers last week. There is a sense of desperation from the Cowboys who appear to be fighting for a wild card spot. The Giants are a 9-point favorite.

The Philadelphia Eagles (4-3) kept their season alive last week with a win over the Falcons but they’ll need another win this week to keep their playoff hopes alive. They’ll be on the road to take on the Seattle Seahawks (2-5) who remarkably still have a shot in the NFC West despite an awful start. Philly is a 7-point favorite.

Just about everybody marked this game on their calendar at the beginning of the season but it has turned out to be something of a mess as the New England Patriots (5-2) hit the road to take on the Indianapolis Colts (3-4). The Colts have dropped two in a row and need a win to even begin thinking about the playoffs while the Patriots are fighting to stay atop the AFC East. Indy is a 6-point favorite.

The Monday Night Football match-up is sure to be a battle as two of the NFL’s most recognizable teams square off. The Pittsburgh Steelers (5-2) are coming off a disappointing home loss to the Giants while the Washington Redskins (6-2) have won two in a row and are battling the Giants for the NFC East lead. With the game in Washington the ‘Skins have been listed as a 1.5-point favorite.
