A US woman called police in a bid to force her boyfriend to propose to her.
Ana Perez, 40, from Chicago, told emergency services she was being attacked on the phone, causing officers to race to her assistance - but when they arrived at her house, she admitted it was just a ploy to scare her boyfriend, which she bizarrely thought would make him pop the question.
Grand Central District police Captain Ronald Pontecore said: "She called 911 to scare her boyfriend and have the police force him to marry her.
"It puts us in jeopardy and the public. It's not a good thing. It ticked the officers off."
Unfortunately for Ana, she was charged with a misdemeanour count of disorderly conduct for her bogus call and her boyfriend has since admitted he had no intention of marrying her and was even preparing to break up with her.
