Louis Walsh receives frosty BGT reception

Louis Walsh was booed during the first round of 'Britain's Got Talent' auditions.

The Westlife manager - who is standing in for regular judge David Hasselhoff on the ITV1 talent show, alongside Amanda Holden and Michael McIntyre - infuriated the audience at London's Hammersmith Apollo after slamming 19-year-old saxophone player Shane, who suffers from Asperger's Syndrome.

After Louis - who is a regular judge on 'The X Factor' and mentored Irish double act Jedward in the 2009 series - told the wannabe he was rubbish, Shane replied: "How can you say I'm boring? You let Jedward through!"

To which Louis replied: "Yeah, but Jedward are making millions now!"

Although the audience started to boo him, Louis refused to change his mind and Shane did not make it through to the next round.

During the auditions, comedian Michael - who is making his debut as a judge - was stunned by some of the acts that took part, and admitted he had to be quite tough with them.

He said: "I started off being quite nice to the people who weren't very good but that's all going to change. I find the power very thrilling."

Michael and former 'Baywatch' star David have replaced Piers Morgan and Simon Cowell - who will return for the final stages of the show - on the judging panel.
