Prince Charles insisted on attending a Royal Variety Performance despite being warned about rioters,
The second-in-line to the British throne's chauffeur-driven Rolls-Royce was surrounded and attacked by a masked mob as he and his wife Camilla, Duchess of Cornwall traveled to the charity event last month but the Daily Mail revealed Charles ignored advice telling him not to attend.
It has also been claimed he was advised to switch to a less conspicuous car but he insisted on using the Phantom VI, which has large windows allowing passengers can be seen.
Yesterday police released CCTV footage of the incident - showing a mob smashing a rear window of the royal couple's car, splattering it with paint and trying to overturn it -and called for anyone who recognizes those responsible to come forward, vowing they will face the consequences of their actions.
Detective Chief Superintendent Matthew Horne - who is heading the team of detectives - said: "Police officers were attacked, and buildings and shops had their windows smashed, amongst other acts of vandalism, including an attack on the royal convoy.
"We believe that most of the people whose pictures we have released today may have committed serious offenses of violent disorder and criminal damage in this area and urge them, or anybody who knows them, to come forward and speak to us.
"Those who are convicted of an offense will have to face the consequences of having a criminal record, which could have a potential impact on their future employment and travel."
