Corn or Resin. What's In Your Cornhole Bag

Cornhole the game is for Corn. Cornhole the sport is for Resin.

Football tailgating is in full swing. The grills are fired up and the coolers have their chilled beverages. Have you been to a tailgate party lately. If so you probably have noticed fans tossing square corn filled bags at an inverted board with a hole cut out at a distance of 25 feet or so. This game is called cornhole - the addictive game of choice before the football game. More and more fans are including a cornhole set as required equipment for tailgating fun before the game.

Are those bags really filled with corn. Some are some are not. Corn is the original material that was standard equipment when cornhole was just a game. However now the game of cornhole is slowly becoming the sport of cornhole and that has brought about the need for standardized cornhole equipment. It was not only important to standardize the boards, elevation, size, and surface, but the bags needed to be standardized to weight, consistency, and reliability as well.

As luck would have it, in 2006, American Cornhole, the governing body of the sport of cornhole, was working with an International Cruise Lines. They wanted an improved cornhole bag for its cruise ship cornhole sets. They wanted a longer lasting, more reliable cornhole bag that didn't mildew and was consistent day in and day out. They asked American Cornhole, LLC. to develop a corn bag for them.

With research and many test pitches the American Cornhole Softtouch Cornhole Bag came to be. The bag was filled with a special resin compound giving the cornhole bag consistency of weight and feel, while adding a longer life to the bag. Resin filled cornhole bags were an improvement over the Corn filled bag adding stability to the bags that hadn't been there before.

When testing the Resin filled bags in its professional cornhole tournaments, the ACO found that the ACO-PRO cornholers preferred the stability of the Resin filled bags to the Corn filled bags. From that the American Cornhole Softtouch Resin Filled Cornhole Bag became the sanctioned tournament bag and is now the standard for cornhole bags in professional cornhole tournament play.

Masters of the game appreciate the AC resin filled bags for the skill opportunity that these bags bring to the game. All of the sport of cornhole AC sanctioned pro series tournaments play with the AC Softtouch Cornhole Bags. Many players will bring the AC Softtouch Bag to games as their bag of choice. So the next time you pick up a cornhole bag, before you give it a pitch, you decide is it corn or resin.
