Barack Obama Denies Knowledge of Aunt’s Illegal Status in States

Democratic presidential nominee Barack Obama has denied knowing that an aunt had been living illegally in the United States for more than four years.

An AP report uncovered a ruling by an immigration judge that ordered Zeituni Onyango to leave the U.S. four years ago after denying the woman asylum from Kenya. Despite the ruling Onyango never left and has been living in a public housing unit in Boston.

In a statement released to the AP the Obama campaign stated, “Senator Obama has no knowledge of her status but obviously believes that any and all appropriate laws be followed.”

Onyango is the half-sister of Obama’s deceased father and was referred to as “Aunti Zeituni” in Obama’s memoir.
