'Lost' lottery numbers win

The magic numbers from TV series 'Lost' have come up in the US lottery.

The numbers 4, 8,15, 16, 23 and 42 are a recurring theme in the hit US drama, and four of the six were drawn this week in the Mega Millions $355 million jackpot lottery.

This won each of the tens of thousands of people who played the 'Lost' numbers $150 each. The actual draw produced the numbers 4, 8, 15, 25, 47 and 42.

In 'Lost', one storyline saw character Hurley, played by Hugo Reyes, play the key numbers in the lottery

to scoop a $114 million jackpot - although the win was bittersweet and led him to a streak of incredibly bad luck, and ultimately saw him try to get away from his riches.

Hugo posted on his blog about the numbers being drawn, seemingly writing in character: "When will you people learn? The numbers are bad! Enjoy your cursed dollars."

Two people guessed the correct six numbers in the lottery, one from the state of Idaho and another from Washington, both of whom will collect $177.5 million each.
