A 16-year-old boy is facing several charges after confessing to police that he killed an American Crocodile on the campus of the University of Miami.
The crocodile was found, headless and tailless, floating in a canal on the school’s campus earlier this month.
Under federal law the American crocodile is an endangered species in Florida and the teen is now facing up to five years in prison and a fine of $5,000 for the killing. He could also face charges of cruelty to animals as well as trespassing on school property.
