Built-In Defrag Software Provides Little in Way of Supporting Efficiency and Reliability for Businesses

For many businesses the New Year brought with it hopes of a more efficient and reliable work environment and to foster that hope many of these businesses invested a considerable amount of money in their computer network system. Right now that investment may be showing signs of paying off as employees appear to be working faster, the network is operating at optimal speed, and there is an overwhelming sense that the computers being used are reliable.

Of course there is no reason why this new and improved computer network system has to go the same route as the previous network, but that all depends on how well you take care of its health.

One of the biggest mistakes a business can make in regards to their computer network system is relying on built-in defragmentation solutions to handle the immense problem posed by the computer disease fragmentation. Unfortunately for many businesses this goes overlooked and within a short period of time the same network problems that inspired the new network purchase appear.

Built-in defragmentation solutions simply can’t handle the demands of a business’s computer network system. These built-in defrags are like the fingers that try to stem the flow of water through a leaking dyke; while it may provide temporary relief the pressure is building and the threat of collapse is still there.

Real protection from fragmentation comes in the form of defragmentation software that can provide a comprehensive solution to the disease, not a band-aid.

Failing to recognize this simple truth will only cause problems down the road for a business. As time passes these businesses will see a slowdown in productivity, more complaints from employees about computer speed, problems accessing and sharing files, software and hardware, and lost documents or unresponsive process requests, etc. All of these problems point directly to fragmentation, the same disease that the built-in defrag solution was supposed to monitor and keep at bay.

What many people don’t realize is that fragmentation is a progressive disease. A fragmented file on a drive that is stored in two spaces can quickly become a file that is broken into hundreds if not thousands of pieces and stored all across the drive. These files don’t get repaired on their own and the built-in defrag solutions are not capable of handling such a task.

The truth is fragmentation is an overwhelming disease and if it is not treated seriously it will cause a network crash. Treating it seriously means installing defragmentation software from a company like Diskeeper who has been designing defrag solutions for 30 years.

Defragmentation software is capable of not only repairing the damage caused by fragmentation, but preventing the disease from returning as well. Once defragmentation software has been installed those damaged files that have been broken into countless pieces are joined together and saved in one space, making them easier to access. This improves the speed of the drive, eliminates the long process hangs, upgrades the reliability of the network, makes the work environment more efficient, and best of all extends the life of the computer network system.

Slowdowns in computer networks don’t have to exist and if you’ve invested a considerable sum of money in upgrades to that network then you should really take a moment to protect that investment with defragmentation software. If you’re working on an older network it’s not too late to improve that system either, restore your computer’s health and get its speed and reliability back with defrag software.
