Kerry Katona so nervous about skating

Kerry Katona says ice skating in front of Jayne Torvill and Christopher Dean is like trying to "moonwalk in front of Michael Jackson".

The reality TV star is one of 16 celebrities competing on 'Dancing On Ice' - which will be cut down to 12 after two weeks - but admits every time she steps out onto the ice in front of the Olympic gold medal winners she feels as though she is embarrassing their sport.

For Kerry, the experience is similar to trying to recreate the infamous gliding moonwalk dance in front of the late pop legend.

She said: "I'm so nervous all the time and apologetic. It's like, Chris and Jayne, and then chavtastic Kerry Katona has come on their show. I just think, 'How the hell can do this?' I feel so out of my depth.

"I feel like they're such nice people, why am I here? I got a bit overwhelmed after the first few sessions because I couldn't believe how nice everyone was I'm not used to that. I'm so eager to impress. It's like doing the moonwalk in front on Michael Jackson."

The 30-year-old blonde has been practising everyday with her partner Dan Whiston and has revealed the gruelling training regime has left her body battered and bruised.

She added in an interview with The Sun newspaper: "I'm in a lot of pain but it hasn't made me more scared. I've slipped and I've sprained two ribs and the muscle underneath is going into spasms. I'm like Bambi on the ice. It's so bloody hard."

'Dancing On Ice' starts on ITV1 on Sunday night (09.01.11).
